My Career and Qualifications

Art Teacher - Assistant Headteacher - Mother - Mental Health Survivor

Having completed my studies in Illustration and Animation at Manchester Metropolitan University, I achieved a distinguished 2:1 BA (Hons) Degree.

Subsequently, I enhanced my qualifications by obtaining a Post Graduate Certificate of Education in Art and Design.

During my extensive 24-year tenure as a proficient educator specialising in art, photography, graphics, and technology, I excelled in guiding students through ART and Design GCSE and A Level examinations, consistently ranking within the top 3% nationwide.

My teaching methodology received notable recognition, culminating in an 'Outstanding' rating from Ofsted, underscoring its effectiveness.

Due to a severe mental health crisis I had to say goodbye to the education sector to look after myself and my family. It took a while, but from my crisis Don't Burst My Bubble was born and I've never looked back!

Transitioning from a ten-year role as Assistant Headteacher, I embarked on a new professional path.
With the support of EnterprisingYou, I accessed the necessary tools to initiate my entrepreneurial journey.

Consequently, I now spearhead the innovative venture at Don't Burst My Bubble Ltd, embracing this exciting new chapter with great enthusiasm and power.

Little did I know I would!

My Journey - My recovery

In 2021, I faced a mental health crisis that profoundly altered my life.

This journey led me through intense struggles with severe depression, anxiety, and self-harm, reigniting an eating disorder from my childhood, something that has always been kept quiet.

Finding myself in a dark place, I made the difficult decision to step away from my beloved teaching career to prioritise counseling and my overall well-being.

My path to recovery began when I rediscovered the joy of art at my neglected desk

Overcoming my fears, I picked up my paints, creating expressive marks on a blank canvas.

Each day, these marks evolved, weaving the narrative of my journey and eventual healing.

For just 10 minutes daily, using everyday objects, I layered these marks, transforming them into extraordinary expressions that resonated physically, visually, and emotionally in my heART.

By the week's end, I realised that these creations encapsulated my story, my progress, and the essence of my recovery – the 'Marks that Matter' saved my life.

Little did I know, this practice marked the inception of my very own little company, my new world that is  DON'T BURST MY BUBBLE!
